REGA........

Riding home from Ulpan the other day, I was already on the bus when we stopped at a bustop to pick up quite a few people who were waiting. One was a little girl who was in my estimation about 10 years old, maybe a little older. As she got on, she made some sort of gesture that she had to get the bus pass or the money from her father, mother, or whichever adult was traveling with her. So she passed the driver and went to her seat. The driver wasn't phased, as this must happen often. He continued on his route and moments later shouted back to her.........

"Giveret.....boee l'shalem....nu? Giveret?" translated: "Miss....come here and pay....nu? Miss?"

......to which someone (maybe the girl, maybe her grown-up?) replied, "REGA!!!" (which most Israeli's use coupled with the hand gesture that many Americans find rude, but it's just a cultural thing).

.....to which the driver replied.....................

"Oh, Em zeh REGA, zeh b'seder!" trans: "Oh, if it's REGA, then it's ok."

made me laugh, thought it might make you laugh too...........Maybe it's one of those "Guess you had to be there" things....... :)
